Prologue of Spring
On April 17, the visit of Institute Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember(ITS), Surabaya, Indonesia to DUT officially kicked off. 30 teachers and students from ITS started a 9-day exchange visit. Song Dan, deputy secretary of the Party committee and vice president of DUT, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Relevant persons in charge of the International Office of DUT, the Faculty of Chemical, Environmental and Biological Science and Technology, and other teachers and students also attended the opening ceremony.
Magnolia blooms and culture spreads fragrance
The study programs included courses such as martial arts, Chinese language and Chinese knotsmaking. The teachers explained in detail the related ideas and development history of Chinese traditional culture. Dumpling-making was included so that everyone could truly experience the characteristics of Chinese food culture in the process of hands-on activities.
Charm on one side, technology on the other
In order to better introduce the humanistic landscape and technological culture of DUT to the teachers and students of ITS, volunteers showed the students of the workshop around the campus, and let them experience the beautiful environment of Chinese universities in the fragrance of cherry blossoms and magnolias in early spring. Afterwards, the students in the workshop visited the fine chemical laboratory, the vehicle engineering training center laboratory, the aerospace laboratory, the bridge and tunnel laboratory and other laboratories. The director of the Directorate of Global Partnerships of ITS and related personnel visited the School of International Education and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. They fully experienced the frontier style of science and technology of modern Chinese universities. In addition, the volunteers also guided the delegation to FAW-Volkswagen Automation Engine (Dalian) Co., Ltd. In the company, the staff showed the engine model to the delegation. They not only understood the relevant knowledge, but also appreciated the rapid development of engine production technology in China.
Comprehensive exchanges in three DUT campuses
During the visit, the students from the workshop, guided by volunteers, visited the Panjin campus of DUT. The academic lectures and the discussions and exchanges between the students of the two universities further promoted the in-depth understanding of each other's culture and scientific research. The delegation also visited the School of Software Engineering. The student representatives of the school introduced the campus in the Development Zone, such as their main fields of research (such as software science, etc.) and the construction history, overall composition and development of the campus. Through student exchange meetings and campus visits, the teachers and students of the delegation had a more comprehensive understanding of the Panjin campus and the Development Zone campus of DUT.
Sharing beautiful scenery with precious friends.
In order to help the teachers and students of ITS have a more unforgettable experience, the volunteers guided them to Dalian Venice City in Donggang, the cross-sea bridge and other cultural venues. There were many exchanges and interactions between the students of the two universities. The exchange and communication made the students feel the spiritual outlook of Chinese youth, the friendship of the Chinese people, and the charm of the Chinese culture.
Meet again in the future
On April 22, at the closing ceremony, a wonderful video was shown. For seven days, there were laughter and warmth. Then the Indonesian students came to the stage to share their learning and exchange results. Cong Fengyu, the director of the International Office, issued certificates of completion to the students, and the teachers from ITS awarded certificates to the outstanding volunteer representatives. Then Ms. Maria, the director of the Directorate of Global Partnerships of ITS, gave a speech in which she expressed her sincere appreciation to the success of the event and thanked the organizers and volunteers for their warm hospitality and selfless dedication. When talking about something touching, she couldn't help bursting into tears. Finally she expressed the hope that the two universities would take this as a good start to form a long-term mechanism for friendly exchanges. Director Cong Fengyu expressed his affirmation of the excellent spirit and outstanding work of the volunteers of the event in the summary speech. Then he introduced the way to apply for the CSC government scholarship and the DUT admission policies of DUT. Finally, he expressed his bright prospect for further exchanges between the two schools in the future. Now, the exchange activities of the delegation from ITS to DUT had come to a successful conclusion, and we hoped that students from the two universities will meet again in the future.
