On April 3, the 45th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asian Regional Contest ended at Kunming University of Science and Technology. 815 teams (more than 2,400 members) from 267 universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Nanjing University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, etc, participated in this online contest. The team of Liu Yicheng, Liang Jiahao, and He Jing from the ACM hands-on class of School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dalian University of Technology (DUT), won a gold medal after five hours of fierce competition.
With the aim of cultivating high-quality and high-level computer programming contestants, the ACM hands-on class of School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship with the platform of design and programming competitions and the theoretical and experimental lectures, provides an environment for university students to fully demonstrate their analytical and problem-solving skills with computers, helps students lay a solid mathematical and English foundation, cultivates their extraordinary algorithm design ability, excellent programming skills, and has good collaboration, stable psychological quality and rapid on-the-spot adaptability.
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is recognized as the world’s largest-scale, highest-level and most-participated programming competition for university students, which aims to provide a stage for university students to demonstrate their talent in analyzing and solving problems with computers. Since 1970, the contest has been successfully held for 45 times and it has been valued by international prestigious universities and famous computer companies around the world such as Microsoft, IBM, Google, Huawei, Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, etc., because the contest has gathered elites from all continents and "hopefuls" of the computer world. It has then become the most influential international computer contest for university students from all over the world. The certificate awarded in the contest is recognized by the world's leading computer companies and universities.
