On May 17, President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, extended welcome to excellent youth from all countries in the world to study in China in his reply to a letter from Pakistani students in the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). In his letter, Xi encouraged the students to communicate more with their Chinese peers and join hands with the youth from all countries to contribute to promoting people-to-people connectivity and building a community with a shared future for mankind. This reply aroused a warm response from international students at Dalian University of Technology (DUT).

“Since the COVID-19 epidemic spread globally, the Chinese government and DUT have always been caring about our safety and health. As the saying goes, ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’, we believe that the virus will be conquered by humanity and a community with a shared future for mankind will be jointly built. Long live China-Pakistan friendship!” the students said, “I have been staying on campus since the outbreak of COVID-19 and felt the solidarity of the Chinese nation. The university has also tried its best to ensure our safety and mental health. What we are learning here is not only knowledge but also the Chinese spirit.”

The counselor of international students said, “As a front-line worker of international student management, I can deeply feel the firm support and active cooperation from Pakistani students on all the work by our government and university during the COVID-19. I can tell their sincere encouragement on China’s fight against the virus.”

During the epidemic, the university leaders and the School of International Education (SIE) are paying great attention to the health and safety of the international students and taking all measures to ensure the smooth progress of international students' epidemic prevention, life and study. Likewise, international students are also actively cooperating, helping and standing firmly with the Chinese people.
