Recently, the first meeting for 2019-2020 school year of the Board of Administration ( BOA) of the Leicester International Institute, Dalian University of Technology( DLI) was held in DUT. DUT President Prof. GUO Dongming, DUT VP Prof. Zhu Hong, University of Leicester VP Iain Gillespie, University of Leicester VP Paul Monks attended the meeting.

With the joint efforts from both sides, since the establishment of DLI, the two universities have promoted various cooperation that has received numerous positive feedbacks from both students and parents, and also advanced the exchange of culture, science, engineering and technology between China and the United Kingdom.

The members of BOA unanimously agreed that in the past year, DLI has carried out a lot of work in admissions publicity, institutional construction, including professional construction, student cultivation, international cooperation and exchanges, and has achieved a lot of progress. The next step should be taking new measures to further improve the comprehensive development of the college.

The purpose of the DLI is to advance the exchange of culture, science, engineering and technology between China and the United Kingdom, promoting the development of education in both countries and facilitating academic collaboration between Dalian University of Technology and the University of Leicester.

The Institute focuses on introducing the educational resources and curriculum of the University of Leicester in the areas of Physical Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and adheres to the principle that Chinese-foreign joint education shall benefit the public interest. The DLI will cultivate professional level practical science and engineering skills in an internationalized environment, allowing students to study with the English language medium of instruction and to develop science and engineering knowledge.
