On the morning of December 17, the Second Joint Management Committee Meeting of UCI-DUT Joint Institute was held online. Prof. Guo Dongming, President of Dalian University of Technology (DUT), Prof. Zhu Hong, Vice President of DUT, Prof. Pramod Khargonekar, Vice Chancellor of University of California, Irvine (UCI), Prof. Zhang Hongchao, Dean of UCI-DUT Joint Institute, and directors from the Henry Samueli School of Engineering of UCI, DUT Academic Affairs Office, International Office, Finance Office, School of International Education, and UCI-DUT Joint Institute attended the meeting.
On behalf of DUT, Guo Dongming expressed his gratitude to the staff of both universities for their great efforts in overcoming the impact of the epidemic and steadily advancing the work of the UCI-DUT Joint Institute. He hoped that the two universities will continue to deepen the level of cooperation, strengthen the construction of faculty team, further expand the areas of cooperation, cultivate high-quality talents, and move forward towards the goal of building a world-class joint institute.
Pramod Khargonekar said that he appreciated the efforts that DUT has been making in the cooperative education and expressed his confidence in the future development of UCI-DUT Joint Institute. He hoped that the two universities would continue to innovate new ideas and initiatives of cooperation, maintain high quality education and teaching level, and cultivate more high-level internationalized talents.
At the meeting, the Joint Management Committee listened to the report of 2020-2021 Work Summary and 2021-2022 Work Plan of UCI-DUT Joint Institute, and held in-depth discussions on topics of faculty team construction, teaching quality improvement, and scientific research cooperation enhancement.
