Recently, the 13th Dalian University of Technology - Belarusian State University Council Meeting of Confucius Institute was held online. Guo Dongming, President of Dalian University of Technology (DUT), Luo Zhongxuan, the University Leader for International Affairs of DUT, Andrei D. Karol, Rector of Belarusian State University (BSU), Dmitry G. Medvedev, First Vice-Rector of BSU, Konstantin V. Kozadaev, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization of Education of BSU, and the heads from DUT School of International Education, Finance Office, and Confucius Institutes (CI) on both sides, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Luo Zhongxuan.
Guo Dongming expressed his heartfelt congratulations on the centenary of BSU. He pointed out that BSU is one of the most important international partners of DUT. Under the severe test of COVID-19, the two universities have cooperated with each other to fight the pandemic, and fulfilled the responsiblity for building a global community of shared future with concrete actions. The two sides have carried out fruitful cooperation based on CI, DUT-BSU Joint Institute and BSU-DUT Joint Institute, and hope to continue to strengthen exchanges and mutual visits, expand cooperation approaches and fields, and promote common development in the future.
Andrei D. Karol said that this year marks the 100th centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 100th anniversary of the founding of BSU, and the two universities have carried out fruitful cooperation in the festive atmosphere. 2022 is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus, and it is hoped that the two universities will take this opportunity to develop closer cooperation and play an active role in the friendship between China and Belarus and the development of the two countries.
The meeting considered and approved the "2020-2021 Work Summary and 2021-2022 Work Plan of CI" and the "2020-2021 Final Account and 2021-2022 Budget Plan of CI".
Both sides also reached a consensus on the implementation of the "Chinese+" program, the establishment of the "CI Award for Outstanding Students" program, and the establishment of an examination center. Using CI as a bridge, the two universities will carry out multi-level and multi-dimensional cooperation in the fields of talent cultivation, scientific research cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, and make new contributions to promote the development of International Chinese Language Education.
