On December 8, the 35th Anniversary of Friendly Exchanges between Dalian University of Technology and Hiroshima University was successfully held online.
Xiang Changle, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dalian University of Technology (DUT), said that over the past 35 years, both universities have been expanding their cooperation fields, deepening their friendly exchanges and achieving fruitful results. DUT is always committed to becoming the leader in Sino-Japanese higher education cooperation and the first choice for Japanese students majoring in science and technology to study in China. DUT is looking forward to continuing to promote the “Schoolfellow Friendship” Initiative with Hiroshima University, and making more contributions to advancing Sino-Japanese youth exchanges.
Reviewing the history of friendly exchanges between the two universities, Mitsuo Ochi, President of Hiroshima University, said that Hiroshima University and DUT have cooperated closely in education and scientific research, and have formed a deep friendship. It is hoped that in the future, combined with the characteristics of the post-epidemic era, online exchanges can be used to make new strides in the development of both universities.
Xue Jian, Consul General of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Osaka, emphasized that the 35 years of cooperation and exchanges between the two universities are inspiring. As the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan is approaching, he hoped that DUT and Hiroshima University will continue to be at the forefront of educational exchanges between China and Japan and dedicate themselves to promote exchanges between both countries.
Luo Zhongxuan and Shinji Kaneko, the University Leaders for International Affairs of the two universities, exchanged souvenirs for the 35th anniversary of friendly exchanges.
At the meeting, Shinji Kaneko and Cong Fengyu, Director of International Office of DUT, introduced the international exchange and cooperation policies of the two universities respectively. Prof. Huang Yi from Faculty of Vehicle Engineering and Mechanics of DUT shared his experience of studying and working in both universities. Prof. Yoshichika Honda from Beijing Research Center of Hiroshima University expressed his appreciation for the online exchange between the two universities, and looked forward to the opportunity for students and faculty of both universities to actively engage in seminars and other activities. The Chairman of International Laboratory Corporation introduced the advantages of Dalian city in attracting foreign talents by sharing his working experience in Dalian.
In the afternoon, about 500 teachers and students from the two universities held academic seminars around civil engineering, mechanics, architecture and art, energy and power, foreign languages and other majors respectively, and conducted exchanges both online and offline.
